ACT for America came out last weekend to “March Against Sharia” in nearly 30 cities nationwide. The group is speaking out against Islamic law and its incompatibility with Western laws and values, most notably basic human rights.
As expected, a large number of counter-protestors attended and a coalition of 129 national and local organizations urged mayors last Friday to denounce the marches, which also coincide with the holy month Ramadan.
In New York, anti-Sharia activists stood in front of Trump Tower with signs reading, “Ban Sharia” and “Sharia abuses women.” Counter-protesters drowned out the anti-Sharia rally with bullhorns and noisemakers accusing the anti-Sharia group of hate speech and racism.
Seattle’s march was mostly peaceful and many came out to share knowledge on the harmful aspects of the law of Islam. However, the counter-protesters in Seattle also brought banging drums and clashing symbols to drown out anything they may have been able to learn from the rally participants as they chanted, “No hate, no fear, Muslims are welcome here!” At one point officers used pepper spray to break up a fight and three were arrested.
A “March Against Sharia” organizer in Syracuse, N.Y., Lisa Joseph, told North Country Public Radio that she put the Syracuse rally together because she and others are “against female genital mutilation, honor killings, throwing gays off of buildings, stoning people to death.”
Counter-protesters responded by shouting the rallygoers down. “Shame! Shame! Shame!”
Charlotte Harper of Garland, Texas summed up the anti-Sharia protests while capturing the sentiment of patriots across the country. “We’re just saying that you can’t change our law. And we’re here to stand up for the American way of life. I am here because I want the Constitution to stand as the law of the land.”
Meanwhile, Tempers ignited at a Minnesota rally which resulted in seven arrests, most of which were counter-protesters.
At the crux of ACT for America’s anti-Sharia movement is the incompatibility of Islamic law with Western democracy. Counter-protesters, however, claim ACT for America is an anti-Muslim hate group promoting racism and their protests are aimed at spreading Islamophobia. They claim the vast majority of Islamists are peace-loving people.
These are the useful idiots the Muslims exploit to further their agenda, as Brigette Gabriel, one of the leading terrorism experts in the world and founder and chairman of ACT for America, pointed out during a Heritage Foundation forum on Benghazi. A Muslim law student from American University used the forum to further the Muslim agenda when she stated Muslims were being shown in a bad light and the eight million Muslims living in America were not fairly represented at the forum. She then asked Gabriel, “How do you expect to win an ideological war with weapons?”
It was an interesting, deliberate and self-serving question as the forum was concentrated on the four dead Americans in Bengazi and the Muslim student claimed to be American and yet her question was in furtherance of a Muslim agenda. Gabriel’s reply was nothing short of stunning and brilliant.
Whatever side of the fence you’re currently on, this is a timely and somewhat urgent issue. As it stands, the American judicial system is witnessing a measured and deliberate push for the integration of Sharia law within American culture and jurisprudence, and every red-blooded American – regardless of your side of the aisle – should take heed.
The dedicated proponents and advocators of these counter protests are advocacy groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center and the ultra-powerful Council for American-Islamist Relations (CAIR). CAIR is an Islamist organization operating as a mainstream advocacy group in America that sues, coerces and intimidates people, institutions and organizations who say or write things damaging to the image of the Islamic faith and its followers. It is partially funded by known terrorist organizations and in 2007 was named as a co-conspirator in a Hamas terrorist funding case. In 2008 the FBI cut all ties with CAIR. In 2010 the Obama administration renewed relations between the FBI and CAIR. Six of President Obama’s top advisers were Muslim Brotherhood operatives.
According to the Daily Caller, since CAIR’s founding in 1994, it has “sued and/or attacked with consequence such media outlets as: The Washington Times, The Los Angeles Times, The National Post, National Review, Anti-CAIR, various talk radio hosts, and college newspapers. Recently, even The Daily Caller has found itself caught in CAIR’s crosshairs.”
An interesting element within the counter-protesting Muslim organizations is the claim that the majority of Muslims don’t want to replace U.S. law with Islamic law. According to Liyakat Takim, a professor of Islamic studies at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, only “radical extremist groups” would call for that.
This claim seems to be the “safe space” the left occupies on this issue. Political correctness dictates Muslims are a “marginalized” class and therefore, come hell or high water, liberals rush to their defense and repeat claims of little to no substance while turning a blind eye to contradictory reports.
In an Investor’s Business Daily article in June 2015, Paul Sperry (formally the IBD Washington bureau chief) reported that according to Polling Co. 51 percent of Muslims living in the U.S. would prefer being governed according to Shariah, and 60 percent of Muslims under 30 years of age told Pew Research they’re more loyal to Islam than America.
According to the report, America’s most respected Islamic leaders and scholars also want theocracy, not democracy, and even advocate trading the Constitution for the Quran.
Sperry went on to compile quotes from key officials representing the Muslim establishment in America today:
- Muzammil Siddiqi, chairman of both the Fiqh Council of North America, which dispenses Islamic rulings, and the North American Islamic Trust, which owns most of the mosques in the U.S.: “As Muslims, we should participate in the system to safeguard our interests and try to bring gradual change, (but) we must not forget that Allah’s rules have to be established in all lands, and all our efforts should lead to that direction.”
- Omar Ahmad, co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the top Muslim lobby group in Washington: “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Quran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
- CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper: “I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future.”
- Imam Siraj Wahhaj, director of the Muslim Alliance in North America: “In time, this so-called democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing. And the only thing that will remain will be Islam.”
- Imam Zaid Shakir, co-founder of Zaytuna College in Berkeley, Calif.: “If we put a nationwide infrastructure in place and marshaled our resources, we’d take over this country in a very short time. . . . What a great victory it will be for Islam to have this country in the fold and ranks of the Muslims.
054:042 Yusufali : The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One Exalted in Power, able to carry out His Will.
Mustafaa Carroll, the Director of the Dallas Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), had this to say to the crowd during a 2013 speech: “If you’re a true, practicing Muslim, you’re above the law of the land.”
In 1998, the founder of CAIR, Omar Ahmad, delivered a speech to a Muslim audience. San Ramon Valley Herald reporter Lisa Gardiner summarized the message in an article: “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
Ahmad called the piece fabricated and CAIR sent out a press release denying the assertion. Gardiner wrote her story immediately after the speech and stands by it. The newspaper was never contacted by CAIR and the story stood.
Take from that what you will, but in the meantime, let’s unravel some additional truths.
Many courtrooms are now looking at legislation that would bar Sharia law from having a place in the American legal system. Although some states are banning Sharia law, there are others like Florida and Montana that have voted against the ban. This amounts to Muslims in America not being subject to American laws, but Sharia laws, or potentially a mixture of the two depending on what the courts are willing to allow and accept.
Case in point, a 2010 case out of New Jersey, [S.D. v. M.J.R.], where a Muslim man was accused of having raped his wife. The judge ruled on the grounds of the man’s Islamic religion, stating, “the defendant did not act with a criminal intent when he repeatedly insisted upon intercourse, despite plaintiff’s contrary wishes.” Note that this decision was eventually overturned by the Superior Court of New Jersey; however, it did set a very dangerous precedence in the lower court and provides a glimpse into why this has even become an issue. A very relevant and concerning question here is why would a United States judge bring Islamic law into an American courtroom at all?
In 2011, there was a civil case in Tampa, Florida over who controlled the funds of a Muslim mosque. A U.S. Circuit Court ruled the case would proceed under Islamic law.
An Islamic Tribunal using Sharia law exists in Texas. According to an attorney with the tribunal, Dr. Taher El-badawi, most of the time U.S. and Islamic laws are in agreement, however, they follow Islamic law when they’re not. If parties are not satisfied with the tribunal’s decision, they do not have to accept it and they can take the matter to Texas civil courts, according to a report in Breitbart News.
One must wonder if the non-Muslim American Democrats protesting ACT for America have a couple of blown cylinders or simply don’t research their causes. The potential integration of Sharia and American laws obviously sets a dangerous precedence for jurisprudence in America.
There exists an abundance of evidence that the Muslim community is doing precisely what Muhammad preached (global domination) and a majority of Americans are not heeding the warning signs. What is happening in this country when Keith Ellison is sworn into office on the Quran and not the bible; when a Virginia senate meeting opens with an Imam saying a Muslim prayer; when Democrats in Montana call a bill banning Sharia law repugnant and vote against it; when universities throughout the country are taking multi-million dollar donations from Muslim groups and installing foot baths, private dining areas and Muslim prayer rooms?
What has become of this country when our government has documentation that the myriad Muslim organizations in America are run by the Muslim Brotherhood with the exclusive purpose of sabotaging our country from within?
in U.S. v Holy Land Foundation, et al.
Americans must never forget the millions of peaceful Muslims living amongst us on September 11, 2001. It took only 19 of them with box cutters to take down the Twin Towers, crash four airplanes, kill thousands of people with more first responders dying every day, destroy tens of thousands of lives, perpetrate billions of dollars of property damage, change the airline industry, blow apart half of the Pentagon…
As Gabriel so brilliantly pointed out to the Muslim law student, “The peaceful majority are irrelevant… . It is time we take political correctness and throw it in the garbage where it belongs.”
